Barenbrug Production Update - April 2020

By Daryl Turner

Our 2020 temperate harvest has finished, except alfalfa which is currently in full swing. Whilst crop yields were average for key species such as Balansa, Persian, Sub Clover, and Woolly pod vetch, the seed quality has been excellent. This is predominantly due to good in crop hygiene and our growers ability to irrigate crops at critical stages.

Our tropical seed production crops are progressing well with recent rainfall across vast parts of northern Australia helping to break the drought in a lot of areas. Rhodes Grass crops in Far North Queensland are maturing 2-3 weeks earlier than last year, recent conditions has been favourable and supply is looking excellent at this stage.

Securing new season temperate production is a key focus at present with sowing likely to commence in the coming weeks as autumn conditions become favourable.
