Community Grant Recipients
In what was a strong pool of submissions, we thank all the applicants for taking the time to submit your application for the 2025 Barenbrug Community Grants and for sharing your vision and commitment to your projects.
We recognise the importance of your projects and the positive impact they aim to create. While we are unable to offer funding at this time, we encourage you to consider reapplying in future rounds, commencing as of the 1/07/2026.
Barenbrug congratulates the following organisations that have been awarded the 2025 Barenbrug Community Grants of $5,000.
Chiltern Recreation Reserve: Turf Surface Upgrade
Summary:
This project will oversow a specialist sports turf mix to restore and enhance the football and netball playing surface. The upgrade benefits a wide cross-section of the Chiltern community and supports increasing participation across football, netball, Auskick, and general recreation.
Alignment with Barenbrug Objectives:
- Provides a tangible, long-term community improvement in a rural township.
- Enhances participation, safety and wellbeing across all age groups.
- Supported by strong volunteer involvement and proven project delivery capability.
- Backed by Indigo Shire Council, demonstrating community support and sustainability.
- Delivers strong impact for the $5,000 investment.
Perennial Pasture Systems (PPS): Season Update Event
Summary:
PPS will host a half-day pasture and livestock season update event. It provides practical, locally relevant guidance to farmers recovering from prolonged dry conditions, with presentations on market outlook, animal health and pasture recovery strategies.
Alignment with Barenbrug Objectives:
- Strong alignment with Barenbrug’s agricultural identity and pasture knowledge leadership.
- Supports hundreds of local farm businesses across Western Victoria.
- Strengthens farmer capability, resilience, and sustainable production.
- High level of community benefit and excellent value for funding size.
- Includes extensive volunteer and agronomist contribution, increasing reach and credibility
Freeling Football Club: Removal of Under‑17.5 Registration Fees
Summary:
To ease cost-of-living pressures, Freeling Football Club seeks to eliminate or reduce registration fees for Under‑17.5 football & netball players. This removes significant financial barriers for families in a rural community and supports ongoing youth participation in sport.
Alignment with Barenbrug Objectives:
- Directly addresses youth wellbeing and inclusion, keeping older teens active and connected.
- Strengthens community cohesion within a rural sporting club.
- Supported entirely by volunteers, reflecting strong local ownership.
- Aligns with the program’s focus on supporting regional communities through meaningful, targeted initiatives.
